1. The service
HaulNet is an online introduction platform for UK haulage work. A customer (the poster) can advertise a transport requirement and receive quotes from hauliers. HaulNet facilitates the introduction; it is not the carrier, freight forwarder or a party to the subsequent haulage contract.
The haulage contract is made directly between the poster and the haulier they select. They are responsible for agreeing collection and delivery arrangements, transport charges, payment terms, the condition and nature of the goods, insurance requirements, and any claims arising from the work.
2. Accounts and eligibility
Users must be at least 18, provide accurate details, keep their login information secure, and update their account when details change. One user must not impersonate another person or business.
Hauliers must hold the operator authority and insurance appropriate to the work they offer to undertake, and must keep these in force. Uploading documents to HaulNet is optional. Hauliers may quote without document verification. A Not verified badge means HaulNet has not verified their documents. A Verified documents badge requires approved, current required insurance documents — goods-in-transit, and vehicle insurance (hire and reward) where the haulier has ticked that an O-licence is not needed — and either an approved, current O-licence or the haulier's declaration that an O-licence is not needed for the work they offer to undertake, shown as O-licence not needed (declared). HaulNet does not check that declaration against official records. Hauliers remain responsible for holding the operator licence their work requires. HaulNet may flag, query or remove verification where a haulier who has declared that an O-licence is not needed quotes for work that appears to need one. If a document used for the badge expires, the badge is removed until a current approved copy is in place. Verification is a check of information supplied and available at the time, not a guarantee of regulatory compliance, insurance cover for every load, performance, or financial standing. Posters should make any additional checks suitable for the goods and journey.
We may request further evidence, withhold bidding access, suspend an account, or remove a listing where reasonably necessary for safety, security, suspected misuse, or legal compliance.
For new bookings under the three-day policy, the customer can confirm the physical haulage job completed, or the booking automatically completes after the displayed reporting deadline unless a problem was reported. The haulier may report completion but cannot end the customer’s window. Existing bookings accepted under the earlier policy still require both confirmations. Reviews are available to both parties after completion regardless of document verification. Each party can leave one star rating and optional feedback, which may be publicly visible on member profiles. Reviews may be removed or hidden if they breach our rules. Completion confirmations and reviews do not determine any separate legal disputes between the parties.
3. Posting jobs and submitting bids
Posting a load is free and no payment card is required at that stage. Eligible hauliers, with or without document verification, may browse jobs and submit bids without a subscription or bidding fee.
Posters must describe the work honestly, including the type of load, transport requirements, collection and delivery details, a compulsory agreed delivery date, relevant timings, and any restrictions. Hauliers must only quote for work they can lawfully and reasonably undertake.
A bid is a proposal from the haulier, not a booking confirmed by HaulNet. Users must not share phone numbers, email addresses, web links or similar contact details in listings or messages in order to avoid the introduction fee. Sharing contact details to get around the booking fee is not allowed. The introduction fee is what keeps posting and quoting free. Swapping details before the fee is paid also means the job has no record on HaulNet, so you cannot use Report a problem, the fee refund process or reviews, and it is harder to spot lookalike emails or payment-redirection scams.
Listings and messages are checked automatically. If contact details are found, that wording is hidden and the item is reviewed by the operator of HaulNet. Repeat offenders may have their account suspended.
The haulier who submits a quote must carry out the job themselves unless the customer agrees on HaulNet that another operator may do it. Passing a booked job to a subcontractor without that consent is not allowed. Customers should check that the vehicle and driver who turn up belong to the haulier they booked.
4. Introduction fee and accepting a bid
Until 00:00 on 1 January 2027 (UK time, Europe/London), customers pay no introduction fee when they accept a quote. No fee on any job until 1 January 2027. After that, a small capped introduction fee: £5 first time, then 3% (max £30). Selected customers may have a separately agreed rate with the same minimum and maximum bounds after that date. The exact fee, including £0 during the free period, is shown before you accept. There are no subscriptions. Hauliers bid free.
When the fee is £0, accepting a quote awards the job and unlocks contact details immediately, without a card payment and without creating a Stripe charge. From 1 January 2027, payment is collected by our payment provider at checkout, and the job is awarded only after successful payment is confirmed. If a due payment is declined, abandoned or cancelled before completion, the bid is not accepted and the contact details stay restricted.
The introduction fee pays for arranging the introduction and access to the selected haulier's details. It is separate from the haulage charge. HaulNet does not collect, hold or distribute the haulage payment: the poster pays the haulier under their separate agreement.
A free introduction before 1 January 2027 does not use the £5 first-introduction offer. From 1 January 2027, every customer pays a fixed £5 introduction fee for their first successful paid introduction, regardless of the accepted quote amount. No waiting-list registration, invitation or code is required. The offer is once per person or business and is used when the first introduction payment succeeds. Cancelling or letting an unpaid checkout expire does not use the offer. A later refund does not reset it. After the first paid introduction, the usual fee is 3%, minimum £5 and maximum £30, unless an account-specific rate applies. The customer pays this fee when accepting a quote; the transport price is paid separately to the haulier. Hauliers bid free.
5. Changes, cancellations and refunds
For bookings accepted under the new three-day policy, the fee is paid at acceptance and remains subject to our refund policy while the booking awaits completion. Either party can use Report a problem until the displayed deadline: UK midnight after three full calendar days following the agreed delivery date. A report pauses automatic completion and reviews while we investigate. A report is not an automatic refund. If the haulier does not carry out the job, we look into it and then complete the booking, resume it with a new delivery date agreed by both parties on HaulNet, or cancel it and issue a full refund of the HaulNet fee to the original payment method (usually 5–10 business days). If a full refund is issued, contact details are hidden again and the booking is cancelled. If only part of the fee is refunded, or a card payment is disputed, contact details are hidden again but the booking is not automatically cancelled. This is a refund arrangement for our own fee, not escrow, insurance or protection for transport payments. Confirming everything went well completes the booking early. Existing accepted bookings retain their original completion terms; statutory rights are unaffected.
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any applicable consumer cancellation rights. Do not assume that a consumer's statutory cancellation rights end merely because a checkout payment has been made.
6. Conduct, information and availability
Users must not post unlawful or misleading loads, upload false documents, interfere with the platform, send abusive messages, or use other people's personal information except to arrange and carry out the agreed haulage. We may moderate or remove content where necessary. Hidden contact details stay hidden if the operator of HaulNet confirms they were an attempt to avoid the fee.
We aim to keep HaulNet available and accurate but cannot guarantee continuous availability, that every job will receive a bid, that every quote will be accepted, or that any job will be completed. Scheduled maintenance, payment-provider issues and other interruptions may occur.
7. Responsibility and disputes
Posters and hauliers are responsible for their own contracts, licences, safe operation, legal compliance, load security, goods, vehicles, insurance and haulage payments. If a transport dispute arises, the parties should first resolve it between themselves. We may assist with platform records where lawful and appropriate, but do not adjudicate transport claims.
HaulNet is not liable for the independent acts or omissions of a poster or haulier. We do not limit liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that law does not permit us to exclude. Nothing affects the legal rights of a consumer.
8. Intellectual property, updates and contact
The HaulNet name, branding, site design and original website content belong to HAULNET LTD. Users retain rights in their own content and grant us permission to display and process it as needed to operate the service.
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be brought to users' attention where appropriate and do not remove accrued statutory rights. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory legal protections applying to individual users.
